Welcome to Carol J’s Research in Online Music Education

This website is a work in progress and will be constantly updated with new research items and related news. Its primary focus is to be a resource for my research as well as other researchers and educators on topics relating to online music education: processes; methods; trends; historical data and research findings. To this end, I hope to locate the critical elements for creating an authentic learning environment and online music education model.

My rationale/purpose for researching online music education:

The availability of post-secondary music education is dependent upon social class, locale, and the accessibility of qualified teachers. Development of an online music education delivery model, which responds to these inequities, requires an understanding of design, communication technologies and pedagogy informed by appropriate research and praxis. This intersection of innovative learning technology and music education research affords support to the complexities of giving voice to cultural expression and individual experiences.
